CFSEU-BC Investigation Leads to Multiple Firearm Charges Against Coquitlam Man

A Coquitlam man is facing multiple firearms-related charges following an investigation by the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of British Columbia’s (CFSEU-BC) Illegal Firearm Enforcement Team (IFET).
In June 2026, CFSEU-BC’s Illegal Firearm Enforcement Team launched an investigation in support of the Surrey RCMP Provincial Operations Support Unit (SPOSU) to execute an arrest warrant for Saadiq Azimali Daya in relation to the following offences:
- Possession of a non-authorized firearm
- Careless storage/Contravention of firearm regulation
- Possession of a firearm without a licence/registration
- Possession of prohibited/restricted firearm
On July 16, 2026, CFSEU-BC investigators executed search warrants at two residences, one in the 11500 block of 141A Street in Surrey and another in the 4300 block of Quarry Road in Coquitlam.
Daya was arrested without incident at the Coquitlam residence. During the search of that property, investigators seized multiple firearms including a Beretta 92FS .22 and a Beretta M9A3 9 mm.
As a result of the investigation, 35-year-old Saadiq Daya of Coquitlam has now been charged with:
- Two counts of possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm (a Beretta 92FS .22 and a Beretta M9A3 9 mm) without being the holder of the required authorization, licence, and registration certificate;
- Two counts of possessing a prohibited firearm at a location other than one authorized under the Firearms Act; and
- Two counts of storing a restricted firearm (a Beretta 92FS .22 and a Beretta M9A3 9 mm) contrary to the Storage, Display, Transportation and Handling of Firearms by Individuals Regulations made under the Firearms Act.
Daya remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on August 10, 2026.
