The Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of British Columbia (CFSEU-BC) has seized approximately 19 kilograms of suspected fentanyl and other illicit drugs, along with two loaded firearms, following an investigation in Victoria.
On August 26, 2026, CFSEU-BC’s Island District initiated an investigation in relation to the suspected possession of firearms and a large quantity of illicit drugs at a residence in the 700-block of Belton Avenue in Victoria.
While CFSEU-BC investigators were conducting their investigation, they became aware of an unfolding incident at the residence involving individuals believed to be associated with a rival group.
During the incident, a firearm was discharged by the suspects at the scene. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
With the assistance of the Victoria Police Department, the Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team and Saanich Police Department, police quickly contained the scene and arrested multiple individuals.
As the investigation progressed, CFSEU-BC obtained a search warrant for the residence. During the subsequent search, investigators seized:
• Approximately 19 kilograms of suspected fentanyl and other illicit drugs;
• Two loaded firearms;
• A cattle prod;
• Multiple cellular phones; and
• Approximately $3,000 in Canadian currency.
The individuals arrested during the incident are known to police. They were subsequently released pending further investigation.
The investigation remains ongoing, and investigators are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident and the seized items. No charges have been laid at this time.
“This incident demonstrates the significant risks associated with organized crime and the illicit drug trade, not only to those involved but also to the public and the police officers who respond to these volatile and potentially deadly situations,” said Sgt. Sarbjit K. Sangha Media Relations officer for CFSEU-BC. “Our investigators, working alongside the Victoria Police Department, the Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team and Saanich Police Department, were able to rapidly contain an unfolding situation involving a firearm discharge and bring it to a safe conclusion without anyone being injured. The seizure of approximately 19 kilograms of suspected fentanyl and other illicit drugs, along with two loaded firearms, represents a significant amount of potentially harmful drugs and dangerous weapons removed from the streets of Victoria.”
