CFSEU-BC Island Deployment Disrupts Drug Trafficking Networks

A coordinated four-day deployment by the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of British Columbia (CFSEU-BC) on Vancouver Island has disrupted multiple drug trafficking networks and resulted in arrests, drug seizures, and the removal of weapons from the community.

From January 29 to February 1, 2026, CFSEU-BC’s Uniform Gang Enforcement Team (UGET) worked alongside Westshore RCMP, Saanich Police Department and Victoria Police Department, to proactively target gang-related activity and support local public safety operations.

Throughout the deployment, UGET seized:

• Approximately one kilogram of suspected illicit drugs, including fentanyl, cocaine and methamphetamine
• Approximately $14,500 CDN cash
• Bear spray and a knife.

In total, officers generated more than 27 investigative files and made 7 arrests, disrupting several organized drug trafficking networks operating in the region.

These proactive deployments are intended to disrupt organized crime activity before violence occurs and to reduce the availability of dangerous drugs in our communities.

“This deployment to Vancouver Island demonstrated the strength of collaboration — combining local knowledge, shared expertise, and coordinated efforts to disrupt organized crime and help keep our communities safe,” says Sgt. Sarbjit K. Sangha, Media Relations Officer for CFSEU-BC. “CFSEU-BC remains committed to working with our partners from across the province to address gang-related activity.”

“Working in partnership with the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit has been critical to the success of these investigations,” said Sergeant Dave Vunic, of the West Shore RCMP Drugs and Organized Crime Unit. “With CFSEU’s specialized resources and expertise supporting our local intelligence and efforts, we were able to more effectively target and dismantle the drug trade in the Westshore, achieving strong enforcement results that directly enhance community safety,”

CFSEU-BC continues to support police agencies throughout British Columbia through coordinated enforcement and intelligence-led operations targeting gangs and organized crime.
