Employee Profile: Winston Soriano
Winston Soriano is a Senior Intelligence Analyst with the Illegal Firearms Intelligence Team and has served as an OCA Intelligence Analyst for 25 years. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology from Simon Fraser University and is a volunteer instructor with the International Association of Law Enforcement Intelligence Analysts.
Born in Manila, Philippines, Winston immigrated to Canada as a young child and was raised in Vancouver and Surrey. He comes from a diverse background—his father is Filipino, and his mother is of Filipino and American (Caucasian) heritage. His maternal great-grandfather, an American soldier from New York, was stationed in the Philippines in the early 1900s and later settled there with his family.
Winston maintains a strong connection to his Filipino heritage. He understands Tagalog fluently and can read and speak it at a basic level. He stays connected to his culture through family and friends, Filipino media, and visits to the Philippines. He also enjoys cooking traditional dishes such as chicken adobo and pork menudo.
A proud Canadian, Winston values and embraces Canada’s diversity by learning about different cultures and engaging with people from a wide range of backgrounds.
In his spare time, Winston enjoys longboarding, paddleboarding, playing guitar, and spending time with his family.
