Working within the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit – BC (CFSEU-BC), the Organized Crime Agency of BC (OCABC) is recruiting an enthusiastic, self-motivated candidate for the acquisition, analysis, dissemination and maintenance of key information to assist CFSEU-BC and other agencies.

Reporting to the Open Source Supervisor, the Open Source Analyst will be responsible to:

• Research, identify, analyze, collect and compile information retrieved from manual and electronic sources
• Prepare information packages to assist with investigations
• Review social media sites to identify subjects, current events and emerging trends
• Facilitate presentations on a variety of topics relating to Open Source Intelligence
• Liaise with investigators from various multi-jurisdictional law enforcement agencies to facilitate information exchanges
• Perform other duties as required

Qualifications:

We are looking for a strong team player with a positive attitude who can work in a fast-paced environment and the following qualifications:

• Completion of a relevant Bachelor’s Degree (i.e. social sciences, criminology or law enforcement) or relevant two years post-secondary education plus a combination of extensive experience and/or training in a related field
• Experience with retrieving information from governmental sources (i.e. BC Online, BC Registry and Land Title Registry) is preferred
• Minimum 2 years’ experience with intelligence report writing
• Formal open source training (i.e. law enforcement training, education or private sector) would be an asset
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Solid analytical and research abilities with proven research methods and techniques
• Ability to extract accurate information during research, prove its relevancy and link key subjects for reporting purposes
• Solid organization skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently
• Experience in accessing the Deep Web for investigations is an asset
• Experience using i2 Analyst Notebook or similar software is an asset
• Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills with the ability to work with minimal supervision
• Strong computer skills
• Ability to obtain and maintain an RCMP police security clearance, certain residency requirements will apply. Candidates with an active RCMP clearance would be an asset.

Annual Salary: $80,964.00 – $84,181.50 – $87,399.00 – $90,597.00 – $93,814.50

This is a civilian unionized position with CUPE 718, working 37.5 hours per week. This position requires in-office attendance.

A pool of candidates may be established to staff additional positions in the future.
