Crime Guns Intelligence and Investigative Group (CGIIG) – Green Timbers Location
Working within the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit – BC (CFSEU-BC), British Columbia’s integrated anti-gang police agency, the Organized Crime Agency of BC (OCABC) is recruiting an enthusiastic, self-motivated candidate to assist CGIIG in conducting enforcement across BC targeting unauthorized manufacturing, trafficking or smuggling of firearms, ammunition, and controlled firearm parts with special focus on associations to gangs and organized crime.
Reporting to the OSINT Supervisor and CGIIG Team Leader, the Open Source Intelligence Analyst will be responsible for:
• Researching, identifying, analyzing, collecting and compiling information retrieved from manual and electronic sources
• Preparing information packages to assist with investigations
• Monitoring social media sites to identify subjects, current events and emerging trends relating to firearms
• Facilitating presentations on a variety of topics relating to Open Source Intelligence, and trends in firearms manufacturing and trafficking
• Liaising with investigators from various multi-jurisdictional law enforcement and regulatory agencies to facilitate information exchanges
• Performing other duties as required.
We are looking for a strong team player with a positive attitude who can work in a fast-paced environment and possesses the following qualifications:
• Completion of a relevant Bachelor’s Degree (i.e. social sciences, criminology or law enforcement) or relevant two years post-secondary education plus a combination of extensive experience and/or training in a related field
• Formal Open Source Intelligence collection training (i.e. law enforcement training, education or private sector) would be an asset
• Minimum 2 years’ experience with producing intelligence products
• Experience with retrieving information from governmental sources (i.e. BC Online, BC Registry and Land Title Registry) is preferred
• Experience in accessing the Deep Web for investigations is an asset
• Experience using i2 Analyst Notebook or similar software is an asset
• Knowledge of firearms, firearms parts, and governing legislation would be an asset
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Solid organization skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently
• Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills with the ability to work with minimal supervision
• Strong computer skills
• Solid analytical and research abilities with proven research methods and techniques
• Ability to extract accurate information during research, prove its relevancy and link key subjects for reporting purposes
• A current PAL and RPAL is an asset
• Ability to obtain and maintain a RCMP police security clearance. An active RCMP clearance would be an asset
Annual Salary: $80,964.00 – $84,181.50 – $87,399.00 – $90,597.00 – $93,814.50
This is a civilian unionized position with CUPE 718, working 37.50 hours per week. Rates negotiated in the new collective agreement with CUPE 718 will be applied to the current annual salary effective April 1, 2025.
This position requires in-office attendance.
A pool of candidates may be established to staff additional positions in the future.
