BC Witness Security Unit (BCWSU) – Green Timbers Location

Working within the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit – BC (CFSEU-BC), British Columbia’s integrated anti-gang police agency, the Organized Crime Agency of BC (OCABC) is recruiting a hard-working, self-motivated candidate to facilitate the access of essential services for clients in the program.

 

Reporting to the Staff Sergeant, this position will be responsible for:

  • Serving as the central liaison with provincial ministries, including but not limited to: Ministry of Housing, Ministry of Health, Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation, Children and Family Development, Housing and Municipal Affairs, Jobs, Economic Development and Innovation, Social Development and Poverty Reduction and Post-Secondary Education and Future Skills
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with key community base service providers, included 2nd Stage Living, Addiction Services and employment programs
  • Maintaining an active database of regional contacts, service eligibility details and access protocols
  • Coordinating timely and effective referrals by working directly with sworn members to meet their clients’ needs and program timelines
  • Identifying, applying and managing program funding, including the Crime Victim Assistance Program (CVAP), the Civil Forfeiture Grant Program and crown funding opportunities
  • Supporting grant reporting, compliance documentation and internal summaries of funding activity
  • Tracking policy changes, funding cycles and emerging service models across BC to ensure the program remains informed and responsive
  • Contributing to internal planning, stakeholder briefings and long-term strategies that promote client support and public safety outcomes
  • Other related duties, as assigned

 

We are looking for a strong team player with a great attitude, and the following qualifications:

  • Completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Public Administration, Criminology, Psychology or a related field. A relevant combination of experience and education would be considered.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in service coordination, government or agency liaison, or community program navigation
  • Experience in advocating for client needs
  • Experience working in a policing environment would be an asset
  • Strong working knowledge of government and social service systems
  • Strong working knowledge of BC’s social service landscape, including housing, mental health, addictions and employment support systems
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Intermediate knowledge of Adobe Acrobat
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment
  • Strong organization skills with the ability to respond to changing priorities and manage multiple tasks concurrently with shifting deadlines
  • Strong problem-solving skills and resourcefulness
  • Strong communication skills, both orally and in writing
  • Sound judgement, integrity and dependability
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external contacts
  • Ability to adapt and work effectively within a variety of diverse situations, and with diverse individuals or groups
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, tact and diplomacy when dealing with sensitive and confidential matters
  • Ability to engage respectfully and empathetically with marginalized populations
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a RCMP security clearance. An active RCMP clearance would be an asset

 

Annual Salary: $76,752.00 – $79,794.00 – $82,855.50 – $85,878.00 – $88,939.50

This is a civilian unionized position with CUPE 718, working as and when required up to 37.5 hours per week. Rates negotiated in the new collective agreement with CUPE 718 will be applied to the current annual salary effective April 1, 2025.

This position requires in-office attendance.

A pool of candidates may be established to staff additional positions in the future.
