Working within the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit – BC (CFSEU-BC), British Columbia’s integrated anti-gang police agency, the Organized Crime Agency of BC (OCABC) is recruiting a hard-working, self-motivated candidate to assess criminal intelligence data and provide strategic and operational analysis support to a specialized intelligence team.
Reporting to the Criminal Intelligence Analyst Supervisor and the Team Sergeant, this position will be responsible for:
• Determining, designing and developing data collection strategies, techniques and methods used in the intelligence process
• Researching, evaluating, interpreting and analyzing information to identify criminal trends and patterns and to develop operational and strategic intelligence products
• Preparing reports to identify and/or illustrate criminal group/individual associations and criminal trends with a nexus to the outlaw motorcycle gang landscape
• Conducting operational and strategic analytical assessments, including providing explanations of intelligence products and defending analytical judgements for potential expert witness testimony in court
• Participating in presentations, meetings and working groups as a specialized criminal intelligence resource, and contributing to the development of new analytical methods and approaches
• Establishing a network of internal and external contacts to identify criminal trends, collaborate on joint analytical projects, exchange information, and conduct intelligence analysis
• Communicating and presenting analytical findings in various formats to inform management and operational personnel
• Mentoring and delegating tasks to junior analytical positions, as needed, which includes providing guidance for analytical techniques and best practices as well as evaluating employee performance
• Other duties as required
We are looking for a strong team player with a positive attitude who can work in a fast-paced environment, with the following qualifications:
• Completion of a Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized university with acceptable specialization in Economics, Statistics, Social Sciences or Applied Sciences, or in a field related to the position,
• Minimum 3 years of recent full-time intelligence analysis experience (within the last 5 years), in at least one of the following areas: crime, tactical, operational and/or strategic. This would include researching, collecting, evaluating and analyzing information to provide recommendations for decision makers
• Minimum 3 years experience working in a police environment
• Extensive experience working with computers and office technology, software, and applications
• Experience using analytical programs and databases including; i2 Analyst Notebook, iBase or specialized mapping software
• Strong communication and organization skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently with the ability to work with minimal supervision
• Extensive knowledge of the BC OMG and organized crime landscape would be an asset
• Experience developing OMG-related intelligence products and analytical initiatives would be an asset
• Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills with the ability to work with minimal supervision
• Ability to successfully complete the National RCMP Test for Senior Intelligence Analysts (required, unless previously passed)
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally
• Ability to work flexible hours on short notice is required
• Ability to obtain and maintain a RCMP Top Secret security clearance. An active RCMP clearance would be an asset
Annual Salary: $ $100,503.00 – $106,002.00 – $111,520.50 – $117,019.50 – $122,499.00
This is a civilian unionized position with CUPE 718, working 37.50 hours per week. Rates negotiated in the new collective agreement with CUPE 718 will be applied to the current annual salary effective April 1, 2025.
This position requires in-office attendance.
A pool of candidates may be established to staff additional positions in the future.
