However, girls are also vulnerable to recruitment and exploitation, and their pathways into gang involvement are often different. Many are seeking acceptance, protection, belonging, or an escape from difficult circumstances. Rather than being recruited by strangers, many are introduced to gangs by someone they already know and trust, such as a friend, family member, or intimate partner.
This campaign aims to challenge common misconceptions by highlighting the factors that can place girls at risk and emphasizing the importance of early intervention, healthy relationships, and strong community support.
