Man Arrested By CFSEU-BC In April Now Charged And Wanted

UPDATE: Man Wanted On Warrant Turns Himself In

kevin-wayne-jonesA man wanted on firearms and drug-related charges has turned himself in less than six hours after a press release was issued asking for the media’s and the public’s help to locate him.

Shortly before 11 a.m. this morning, CFSEU-BC issued a press release advising the public that Kevin Wayne Jones, a 30-year old Saanich man, was charged and wanted for a number of offences.

It took less than three hours and a friend seeing Kevin Jones on the noon news for Jones to get word he was wanted and to contact police that he was going to turn himself in later in the afternoon.

“This is yet another excellent example of how the media can assist the police with an investigation,” says Sergeant Lindsey Houghton, spokesperson for the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of British Columbia. “The quick action of the media in getting the information out about Mr. Jones’ warrant was directly responsible for him turning himself in.”

Kevin Jones turned himself in to police a short time ago at the Saanich Police Department headquarters and remains in custody.

There is no information currently available about when he may appear in court.
