Proactive Interdiction and Enforcement Tactics Workshop Delivers Measurable Public Safety Results in Prince George
The Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of British Columbia (CFSEU-BC) has expanded its province-wide commitment to safer communities through the Proactive Interdiction and Enforcement Tactics (PIET) Workshop, delivered by the CFSEU-BC Uniform Gang Enforcement Team (UGET). Prince George recently hosted the one-day, in-person training, equipping local officers with specialized strategies to disrupt organized crime and remove threats from our streets.
This hands-on operational workshop provides proven techniques for the interdiction of firearms, trafficking-level drugs, bulk currency, and vehicles with hidden compartments. Delivered by experienced UGET officers, including Cst. Attila Szalay and Cst. Darcy Jackman, the training translates directly to frontline enforcement outcomes and has been widely praised by participants.
Training in Action: Measurable Outcomes
Following the May and September sessions in Prince George, newly trained officers immediately applied their learning, producing significant public safety results, including:
• 18 firearms seized
• 1 kilogram of illicit drugs – including fentanyl, cocaine, and methamphetamine – removed from circulation
• $14,000 in cash recovered
• Two sets of body armour confiscated
Officers also engaged and interdicted individuals linked to the BC Gang Conflict, the Provincial Tactical Enforcement Priority (PTEP) program, and the Repeat Violent Offending Intervention Initiative (ReVOII). Notably, two violent offenders were apprehended after fleeing police and were found in possession of loaded firearms and body armour. Both remain in custody pending court proceedings.
Strengthening Public Safety Across B.C.
“Programs like the PIET workshop are key to disrupting organized crime and protecting families across the province,” said Cpl. Sarbjit K. Sangha, Media Relations Officer, CFSEU-BC. “By sharing specialized knowledge with local police agencies, we strengthen enforcement capacity in every region and make BC communities safer”.
CFSEU-BC will continue to expand delivery of the PIET workshop to ensure that more frontline officers have access to cutting-edge interdiction tactics that keep pace with organized crime and its evolving methods.
