These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of cfseu.bc.ca. By using the website, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the website.
1. About These Terms
The Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit British Columbia (CFSEU-BC, we, us or our) operates cfseu.bc.ca. These terms apply to the website and to any CFSEU-BC digital service that links to them, collectively referred to as the Website. Additional terms may apply to a particular form, service, campaign or third-party platform. If additional terms conflict with these terms, the additional terms apply to that feature.
We may update these terms from time to time. Changes take effect when the revised terms are posted, unless a later date is stated. The date at the top of this page shows when the terms were last updated. Your continued use of the Website after an update means you accept the revised terms.
2. Information and Emergency Use
The Website provides public information about CFSEU-BC, public safety, gang prevention, enforcement activities, programs, news and related resources. Website content is provided for general information only. It is not legal advice, operational advice, an official record of a court or investigation, or a substitute for advice from a qualified professional.
Do not use the Website, email or a general contact form to request emergency assistance. If there is an immediate threat to life or safety, call 911. For non-emergency police assistance, contact the appropriate local police agency. Follow any specific instructions shown on a reporting or tip form.
3. Permitted Use
You may access, view, download and print Website content for lawful personal, educational and other non-commercial purposes, provided that you preserve any copyright, trademark and attribution notices. Any other reproduction, distribution, adaptation, publication, public display or commercial use requires prior written permission from CFSEU-BC or the applicable rights holder, unless permitted by law.
Nothing in these terms limits rights available under the Copyright Act, including fair dealing, or any other right that cannot lawfully be restricted. No licence is granted to use CFSEU-BC names, logos, badges, marks or other brand elements without written permission.

- attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Website, its systems, accounts, data or networks;
- interfere with the Website’s operation, security or availability, including by introducing malicious code or excessive automated requests;
- impersonate CFSEU-BC, its personnel or another person, or falsely suggest an affiliation or endorsement;
- remove or alter copyright, trademark or other proprietary notices;
- scrape, harvest, mine or systematically extract Website content or personal information except as permitted by law or with written authorization;
- frame or mirror a material part of the Website, or use CFSEU-BC branding in a link, in a way that could confuse users about the source or ownership of content; or
- use Website content in a way that infringes another person’s rights or creates a risk to public safety.
5. Website Content and Intellectual Property
Unless otherwise stated, the Website and its content, including text, photographs, graphics, video, audio, designs, software and the selection and arrangement of those materials, are owned by CFSEU-BC or used with permission. They are protected by Canadian and international copyright, trademark and other laws.
Third-party names, logos and materials remain the property of their respective owners. Their appearance on the Website does not transfer any rights to you and does not necessarily imply endorsement by CFSEU-BC or the third party.
6. Submissions and Communications
If you send feedback, questions or other non-confidential material through the Website, you authorize CFSEU-BC to use that material as reasonably necessary to respond, administer the Website, improve services and carry out its public-safety mandate. You confirm that you have the right to submit the material and that doing so does not violate the law or another person’s rights.
Personal information submitted through the Website is handled according to the CFSEU-BC Privacy Statement and any collection notice displayed with the relevant form. Do not send sensitive operational information through a general contact channel when a specific reporting method is provided.

If you believe material on the Website infringes copyright that you own or control, contact us and identify the work, the Website material at issue, its location, your interest in the work and your contact information. We may request additional information before reviewing or acting on a notice.
8. Third-Party Content and Links
The Website may link to or display content, services or websites operated by third parties. These resources are provided for convenience and information. CFSEU-BC does not control them and is not responsible for their availability, accuracy, security, accessibility, content or privacy practices.
A link or reference does not, by itself, mean that CFSEU-BC endorses the third party or its views, products or services. When you leave the Website, the third party’s terms and privacy practices apply.
9. Accuracy, Availability and Security
We aim to keep Website content useful and current, but we do not guarantee that it is complete, accurate, current, uninterrupted, secure or free from errors or harmful components. Content may be changed, corrected, removed or unavailable without notice. You are responsible for taking reasonable precautions when accessing or downloading online content.
Official announcements, legislation, court records and information published by another public authority should be confirmed with the responsible source. Website content does not create a commitment, representation or warranty about an investigation, enforcement action, charge, prosecution or outcome.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, CFSEU-BC and its participating agencies, personnel, contractors and service providers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive loss arising from or related to the Website or your reliance on its content. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, or affects any right or remedy available under applicable law.
12. Responsibility for Your Use
To the extent permitted by law, you are responsible for third-party claims, losses and reasonable costs arising directly from your unlawful use of the Website, your violation of these terms, or material you submit without the required rights or permissions. This responsibility does not apply to the extent a claim results from the negligence or wilful misconduct of CFSEU-BC or another protected party.

These terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada that apply in British Columbia, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Subject to any law that requires otherwise, disputes relating to these terms or the Website will be brought before the courts of British Columbia.

If a provision of these terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, it will be limited or removed only to the extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will continue in effect. A failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. These terms, together with any additional terms or policies incorporated by reference, form the entire agreement governing your use of the Website.
