This integrated model allows for a collaborative, coordinated and intelligence-led provincial response to organized crime, and uniquely positions CFSEU-BC as BC’s leader in the fight against gangs and organized crime.
Organized Crime Agency of British columbia (OCABC)
As one of CFSEU-BC’s foundational partners, the Organized Crime Agency of British Columbia plays a unique and critical role in supporting CFSEU-BC. OCABC sworn members and civilians are embedded within CFSEU-BC, serving essential analytical, forensic, administrative and enforcement support roles.
CFSEU-BC leads the End Gang Life program — a prevention and education program that informs communities about strategies to prevent young people from joining gangs.
CFSEU-BC leads the Provincial Tactical Enforcement Priority (PTEP) Program — a provincial intelligence program.
CFSEU-BC gathers intelligence and shares its findings with partner agencies to enhance the coordination and strategic deployment of all law enforcement agencies against organized crime groups in BC.
By identifying and targeting the highest-level threats, we aim to reduce violence by leading the law enforcement response to gang violence in BC.
CFSEU-BC has dedicated investigation teams located throughout the province—assisted by specialty support teams—that target mid-to-high level organized criminals engaged in violent crimes and illegal drug trafficking offences that threaten community safety.
CFSEU-BC also has specialized teams that contribute to the reduction of gang and gun violence by specifically focusing on illegal drug and firearm traffickers and illegal gaming activities.
We work with the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) and other major crime units responsible for the investigation of gang homicides.
CFSEU-BC often tackles emerging homicide conspiracies to proactively prevent violent gang conflict activity.
Specialized Teams
CFSEU-Covert Asset Support Team (CAST) BC’s covert asset support team manages human assets and identifies, recruits and develops new assets targeting the full range of organized crime in BC.
CFSEU-BC’s Outlaw Motorcycle Gang (OMG) Coordinators support the suppression and disruption of outlaw motorcycle gang activity to enhance public safety.
CFSEU-BC’s highly trained Uniformed Gang Enforcement Teams (UGET) disrupt and suppress gang violence by going to where the gangsters are in our communities.
The Gang Intervention & Exiting Team provides support to high-risk individuals who are engaged in gang-related activities, including drug trafficking, and wish to exit gang life.
CFSEU-BC also operates two provincial programs:
- BC Witness Security Unit
- Crime Guns Intelligence and Investigations Group (CGIIG)
These programs support the prosecution of individuals and criminal organizations that pose the highest risk to public safety in BC.
The BC Witness Security Unit is dedicated to helping witnesses safely attend trial and provide testimony in support of prosecuting violent criminals.
CGIIG targets firearms violence using intelligence, enforcement and the Provincial Forensic Firearms Lab.
The Provincial Forensic Firearms Lab provides forensic services to analyze illegal firearms in BC, and the evidence secured by the Lab supports the investigation and prosecution of violent criminals.
