The Organized Crime Agency of BC (OCABC), on behalf of the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit – BC (CFSEU-BC) and the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT), is recruiting an enthusiastic, self-motivated candidate to provide data support for the Integrated Gang Homicide Team (IGHT).
Reporting to the Disclosure Coordinator, this position will be responsible for:
• Working within an integrated environment at IHIT to investigate select project-based organized crime-related homicides;
• Preparing information by organizing data (paper and electronic) into databases, as required by the Provincial MOU;
• Reading investigative/surveillance documents and reports to extract pertinent information to be entered into the databases in accordance with policies and procedures for files;
• Reviewing documents and reports for accuracy and consistency by comparing data with the investigator and/or various police information databases as required;
• Linking information provided in accordance with policies and procedures for files;
• Scanning and converting data into databases;
• Maintaining work logs to track data processed in information systems, and resolving any issues, as needed;
• Assisting with quality assurance audits and vetting, as required;
• Assisting the File Coordinator and Disclosure Facilitator in preparing disclosure packages;
• Flexibility and willingness to work extended shifts and be available on short notice as required by the investigation with potential for some travel.
The successful candidate must possess the following qualifications:
• Minimum High School completion. Post-secondary education would be an asset.
• Experience providing administrative support or assistance;
• Experience with computer programs / software which include word processing, spreadsheets and databases;
• Good communication skills with the ability to speak and write effectively;
• Strong organization skills with the ability to complete tasks within deadlines provided;
• Good interpersonal and teamwork skills with the ability to be independent and work with minimal supervision;
• Ability to obtain and maintain a RCMP security clearance. Candidates with an active RCMP clearance would be an asset.
Annual Salary: $55,926.00 – $58,149.00 – $60,352.50 – $62,556.00 – $64,779.00
This is a civilian unionized position with CUPE 718, working 37.5 hours per week. This position requires in-office attendance. A pool of candidates may be established to staff additional positions in the future.
