Working within the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit – BC (CFSEU-BC), the Organized Crime Agency of BC (OCABC) is recruiting enthusiastic, self-motivated candidates for multiple, ongoing casual positions.

Reporting to the Intelligence Monitor Supervisors, these positions will be responsible for:

• Performing real-time, legally authorized, electronic telecommunications surveillance of persons, locations and devices;
• Listening to, and summarizing live and recorded intercepted communications for criminal investigations;
• Analyzing communications and data to establish relevant information regarding persons of interest;
• Creating and maintaining logs, lists, and other documents to aid in investigations
• Preparing accurate and professional transcripts, within designated timeline, for investigative purposes;
• Assisting with troubleshooting technical issues, as required; and
• Other duties, as required

Intelligence Monitor duties are conducted in a workspace while wearing a headset, with exposure to extended periods of audio and/or video, that may contain graphic content. Day, afternoon, evening and weekend shifts are entailed with these positions.

Successful candidates will have the following qualifications:

• Completion of post-secondary courses / education in criminology, criminal justice or the social arts field would be an asset;
• A minimum of six months relevant industry experience or volunteer work in a policing environment, would be an asset;
• Experience applying Part VI and XV of the Criminal Code pertaining to the interception of telecommunications, would be an asset;
• Knowledge of computer hardware and software related to video and audio, would be an asset;
• Ability to accurately and promptly transcribe and/or summarize audio and/or text (Certificate in Court Interpretation or ability to translate from another language, or dialect, is an asset; in particular Tagalog, Punjabi, French, Farsi, Arabic, Fijian, Vietnamese, Mandarin, and Cantonese);
• Ability to exercise good judgment and a high standard of ethics;
• Ability to ensure confidentiality while handling sensitive information;
• Ability to stay focused, calm, and maintain a positive attitude during highly stressful situations;
• Strong oral and written communication skills in English, as well as sound knowledge of sentence structure and grammatical syntax;
• Ability to obtain and maintain an RCMP Top Secret Security clearance. Candidates with an active RCMP clearance would be an asset.

Annual Salary: $65,793.00 – $68,406.00 – $71,019.00 – $73,632.00 – $76,225.50

This is a civilian unionized position with CUPE 718, working 37.50 hours per week. Rates negotiated in the new collective agreement with CUPE 718 will be applied to the current annual salary effective April 1, 2025.

This position requires in-office attendance.

A pool of candidates may be established to staff additional positions in the future.
