Working within the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit – BC (CFSEU-BC), the Organized Crime Agency of BC (OCABC) is recruiting an experienced supervisor to work as a part of a team that supports gang intervention and exiting strategies. The successful candidate will have a high-level understanding of all aspects on how individuals enter and exit gang life and have a solid understanding of trauma informed practice and program management.

Reporting to the Outreach Coordinator of GIET, the Outreach Supervisor will be responsible to:

  • Manage a caseload of gang intervention and exiting clients and work with CFSEU-BC Gang Intervention Officers to develop and implement intervention strategies for gang involved individuals
  • Establish and monitor short and long term client goals/needs and provide information on available resource services and make appropriate referrals
  • Assess on-going client needs, provide practical support and appropriate crisis response to clients and their families and/or friends to help deal with issues stemming from the client’s gang involvement
  • Maintain client case files, update information systems and prepare reports as needed
  • Provide supervision and feedback to gang intervention & exiting program case managers
  • Review and maintain client files on appropriate electronic database systems
  • Manage program referrals and intake for performance evaluation
  • Maintain and build strong relationships with relevant community partners, stakeholders and other levels of government to promote and enhance the program
  • Enhance public awareness of the program and participate in the delivery of educational services by conducting presentations and information sessions with various stakeholder groups
  • Other duties as required.

We are looking for a strong team player with a positive attitude and the following qualifications:

  • Completion of a Bachelor’s degree in a Social Science discipline
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a justice, educational or social service setting that involves supervision, counselling or conflict resolution
  • Experience with supervising staff who work with high risk clients and families facing challenges which may involve exposure to unpleasant situations
  • Knowledge and understanding of the BC gang landscape would be an asset
  • Ability to communicate in an appropriate manner orally and in writing
  • Ability to effectively use standard computer applications (Microsoft Office)
  • Ability to be flexible and work evenings and weekends on short notice
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a RCMP Enhanced Reliability police security clearance

Annual Salary: $80,964.00 – $84,181.50 – $87,399.00 – $90,597.00 – $93,814.50

This is a civilian unionized position with CUPE 718, working 37.5 hours per week. This position requires in-office attendance.

A pool of candidates may be established to staff additional positions in the future.
