About Us: The Organized Crime Agency of BC (OCABC), part of the CFSEU-BC, is dedicated to combating organized crime across British Columbia. We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and self-motivated Criminal Intelligence Analyst to join our investigative team.

Role Overview: Reporting to the Criminal Intelligence Analyst Supervisor and the Team Sergeant, the Criminal Intelligence Analyst will be responsible for:

  • Data Strategy Development: Determining, designing, and developing data collection strategies, techniques, and methods for the intelligence process.
  • Research and Analysis: Researching, evaluating, interpreting, and analyzing information to identify criminal trends and patterns, developing tactical, operational, and strategic intelligence products.
  • Report Preparation: Preparing reports to identify and/or illustrate associations and trends among criminal groups and individuals.
  • Judicial Analysis: Conducting analysis for judicial purposes, providing explanations of intelligence products and defending analytical judgments during expert witness testimony.
  • Presentation and Collaboration: Participating in presentations, meetings, and working groups as an expert resource and contributing to the development of new analytical methods and approaches.
  • Networking: Establishing a network of internal and external contacts for information exchange and collaborative intelligence analysis.
  • Communication: Communicating and presenting analytical findings in various formats to inform and guide management and operational personnel.
  • Mentorship and Supervision: Mentoring and supervising junior analytical staff, providing guidance on analytical techniques, best practices, and evaluating performance.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Undertaking other duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized university.
  • Minimum 3 years of recent experience (within the last 5 years) in intelligence analysis in crime, tactical, operational, or strategic domains.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a police environment.
  • Proficient in using analytical programs and databases like i2 Analyst Notebook, iBase, or specialized mapping software.
  • Experience in witness/agent threat assessments and extensive knowledge of the BC gang and organized crime landscape are valuable assets.
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills, capable of working with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to successfully complete the National RCMP Test for Intelligence Analysts.
  • Must be available for domestic and international travel and flexible hours on short notice.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an RCMP Top Secret police security clearance.

Salary and Benefits:

  • Annual Salary: $100,503.00 – $122,499.00
  • This is a unionized position with CUPE, requiring 37.5 hours per week.
  • In-office attendance is required.
