Covert Asset Support Team (CAST) – Green Timbers Location

Working within the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit – BC (CFSEU-BC), British Columbia’s integrated anti-gang police agency, the Organized Crime Agency of BC (OCABC) is recruiting an enthusiastic, self-motivated candidate to provide financial guidance, support and oversight of sensitive expenditures, ensuring alignment with CFSEU-BC’s financial policies and procedures, that meet Federal Treasury Board requirements.

Reporting to the CAST S/Sgt, the Sensitive Expenditures Specialist will be responsible for assisting the CFSEU-BC Sensitive Expenditure Program in providing overall financial management and support to the organization which includes the following duties:

  • Supporting overall accounting and financial reporting procedures and operations related to Sensitive Expenditures
  • Verifying coding and documentation from departments for completeness and accuracy
  • Providing guidance and support to the Sensitive Expenditure Staff Sergeant, and delegating/prioritizing work, as needed for Sensitive Expenditures
  • Assisting the Finance Manager and Director of Finance in the preparation of internal and external monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting for Sensitive Expenditures
  • Providing advice, analysis and financial services to ensure the efficient and effective use of organizational resources related to Sensitive Expenditures
  • Maintaining and enforcing a documented system of accounting policies and procedures related to Sensitive Expenditures
  • Responsible for internal and external Sensitive Expenditure cost recoveries/accounts receivable
  • Providing support to the Finance Manager and Director of Finance in all aspects of analyzing, reporting and decision making, with access to confidential information
  • Assisting with accounts payable duties including coding, processing and inputting cheque requisitions and expense reports, as well as processing 1454 & 1393 expense forms
  • Supporting the coordination of all CFSEU-BC Sensitive Expenditure products
  • Performing other duties as required

 

We are looking for a strong team player with a positive attitude who can work in a fast-paced environment and possesses the following qualifications:

  • Completion of a two-year diploma or certificate, OR an equivalent of combined education or related experience would be considered
  • Minimum three-years’ experience in finance/accounting related position(s)
  • Experience with internal or external cost recovery methodology, formulation and processes as related to Sensitive Expenditures
  • Experience extracting financial information to analyze, interpret and prepare financial reports as related to Sensitive Expenditures (i.e. 1454 &1393’s etc.)
  • Experience working with computerized financial systems, including SAP Team for financial transactions and financial analysis
  • Experience in public administration or local government would be an asset
  • Experience in an integrated police environment would be an asset
  • Extensive working knowledge of various accounting processes related to Sensitive Expenditures
  • Advanced skill level using Microsoft Excel, which includes creating complex formulas and pivot tables
  • Ability to develop and implement financial policies and procedures, and year-end audit processes
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated analytical skills related to Sensitive Expenditures
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong organization skills with the ability to respond to changing priorities and manage multiple tasks concurrently with shifting deadlines
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a RCMP police security clearance. An active RCMP clearance would be an asset

 

Annual Salary: $76,752.00 – $79,794.00 – $82,855.50 – $85,878.00 – $88,939.50

This is a civilian unionized position with CUPE 718, working 37.50 hours per week. Rates negotiated in the new collective agreement with CUPE 718 will be applied to the current annual salary effective April 1, 2025.

This position requires in-office attendance.
