Charges Approved in CFSEU-BC’s Investigation into Alleged Drug Trafficking Network

Charges Approved in CFSEU-BC’s Investigation into Alleged Drug Trafficking Network 

The Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of British Columbia (CFSEU-BC) has secured criminal charges against two (2) individuals in connection to a 2023 investigation into an alleged drug trafficking operation in the Lower Mainland. 

In June 2023, CFSEU-BC initiated an investigation into an alleged drug trafficking network which progressed leading to the execution of several search warrants at locations in Richmond, Burnaby and Surrey in August of 2023. 

The search warrants lead to the seizure of the following items: 

  • • 12.7 kg of methamphetamine, 4.7 kg of fentanyl, 1.6 kg of cocaine, 1.6 kg of ketamine and 1 kg of cutting agents; 
  • • 9 kg of cocaine from a hidden aftermarket compartment found in a vehicle; 
  • • $79,050 CDN currency; 
  • • Drug paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking. 

On August 27, 2024, the Public Prosecution Service of Canada (PPSC) approved charges against two (2) individuals for the following offences: 

  • Samardeep Dhami, a 22-year-old male from Surrey o One (1) count of possession for the purposes of trafficking, fentanyl, flurofentanyl, methamphetamine, cocaine and/or ketamine a controlled substance contrary to sections 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA). 
  • Randy Chu, a 40-year-old male from Burnaby o One (1) count of possession for the purposes of trafficking, cocaine a controlled substance contrary to sections 5(2) CDSA. 

Both Dhami and Chu have been arrested and released with conditions awaiting the judicial process.

We remain committed to holding accountable drug traffickers who prey on the most vulnerable citizens in our communities by trafficking in potentially deadly fentanyl and other substances,” says Sergeant Brenda Winpenny, Media Relations Officer for CFSEU-BC.
