Illegal Firearms Investigation Leads to Charges in Relation to Firearms Manufacturing
A man has been charged after investigators with the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of BC (CFSEU-BC) Illegal Firearms Enforcement Team (IFET) investigated the alleged Importation of firearms parts used in the making of 3D printed ghost guns.
In August of 2022, CFSEU-BC IFET entered into an alleged illegal firearms manufacturing investigation after receiving information from Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) that they had intercepted a shipment of firearm parts, used in the manufacture of 3D printed ghost guns and that the shipment was destined for a location and individual in Canada.
On February 9, 2023 the investigation had progressed leading to a search warrant being executed on a residence in Whitehorse, Yukon Territory (YT). The search warrant revealed evidence and the seizure of items consistent with an alleged firearms manufacturing operation. Also seized from the residence were two conventional firearms.
On January 24, 2025, the following charges were laid in the Territorial Court of Yukon against Anthony Luis Eduardo Desjarlais, a 28-year-old male from Whitehorse, YT;
- 1 Count, Firearms manufacturing, s. 99(1) Criminal Code of Canada (CCC);
- 1 Count, Firearms trafficking, s. 99(1) CCC;
- 1 Count, Possession of a firearm knowing it’s unauthorized, s. 92(1) CCC;
- 1 Count, Possession of a firearm contrary to order, s. 117.01(1) CCC; and
- 1 Count, Unsafe storage of a firearm, s. 86(1) CCC.
An unendorsed arrest warrant has been issued for Desjarlais. CFSEU-BC will be seeking the assistance of Whitehorse RCMP to locate and arrest Desjarlais.
