
Financial Analyst Permanent, Full-Time – Green Timbers Location
Working within the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit – BC (CFSEU-BC), British Columbia’s integrated anti-gang police agency, the Organized Crime Agency of BC (OCABC) is recruiting a hard-working, self-motivated candidate for the Financial Analyst position, to assist the Finance team in providing overall financial guidance and support to the organization.
Reporting to the Finance Manager, this position will be responsible for:
• Supporting overall accounting and financial reporting procedures and operations
• Verifying coding and documentation from departments for completeness and accuracy
• Providing guidance and support to the Finance Administrator, and as delegating/prioritizing work, as needed
• Assisting the Finance Manager and Director of Finance in the preparation of internal and external monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting
• Providing advice, analysis and financial services to ensure the efficient and effective use of organizational resources
• Assisting in the budgeting and forecasting process
• Maintaining and enforcing a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
• Reviewing, monitoring and recommending on the financial component of all business proposals and new projects
• Responsible for all internal and external cost recoveries/accounts receivable
• Assisting the Finance Manager and Director of Finance in preparing budgets and forecasts for all of the CFSEU-BC and the OCABC
• Providing support to the Finance Manager and Director of Finance in all aspects of analyzing, reporting and decision making, with access to confidential information
• Assisting with accounts payable duties including coding, processing and inputting cheque requisitions and expense reports, as well as processing 1393 expense forms
• Acting for the Finance Manager, as needed
• Other related duties, as required
We are looking for a strong team player with a great attitude, and the following qualifications:
• Completion of a two-year diploma or certificate, OR an equivalent of combined education and related experience would be considered.
• Minimum five-years’ experience in finance/accounting related position(s)
• Extensive working knowledge of various accounting processes, and ability to make sound financial and business decisions
• Experience with internal or external cost recovery methodology, formulation and processes
• Experience extracting financial information to analyze, interpret and prepare financial reports
• Experience in financial resource management, including consolidating, analyzing and providing advice to management
• Experience working with computerized financial systems, including SAP Team for financial transactions, budgetary controls, and financial analysis
• Experience using Microsoft Excel at an advanced level, using complex formulas and creating pivot tables
• Ability to develop and implement financial policies and procedures, year-end audit processes, budgeting and reporting
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
• Demonstrated decision making problem solving and analytical skills
• Experience in public administration or local government would be an asset
• Experience in an integrated police environment would be an asset
• Ability to obtain and maintain a RCMP police security clearance. Candidates with an active RCMP clearance would be an asset.
Annual Salary: $80,96400 – $84,181.50 – $87,399.00 – $90,597.00 – $93,814.50
This is a civilian unionized position with CUPE 718, working 37.50 hours per week. Rates negotiated in the new collective agreement with CUPE 718 will be applied to the current annual salary effective April 1, 2025.
This position requires in-office attendance.
A pool of candidates may be established to staff additional positions in the future.
