Police to monitor Hells Angels dual events on holiday weekend

The Victoria Day Weekend will be a busy one for officers with the CFSEU Outlaw Motorcycle Gang Enforcement and Intelligence Unit.

HA-BootWith two events planned for the upcoming May long weekend– one on Vancouver Island and the other in the Southern Interior of British Columbia– it is expected that dozens of Hells Angels, including many from outside the province, will converge on the cities of Kelowna and Campbell River. Hells Angels support clubs are also expected to attend the rides.

Over the course of the weekend, CFSEU will be assisting our RCMP partners in Campbell River and Kelowna. Additional resources will come from 100-Mile House and the Kamloops RCMP.

In recent years, these events have been uneventful for the most part, and we would expect that tone to remain over the long weekend, noted CFSEU spokesperson Sgt. Shinder Kirk. “However, there have been times when violence has erupted and crimes have been committed at these kind of gatherings. To that end, our officers will be out in force to ensure that public safety is upheld in our communities,” Sgt. Kirk said.

CFSEU – BC is the province’s primary investigative agency for Organized Crime and Gangs. Working to pre-empt any potential for conflict is a key component of our strategy– one that goes a long way to ensuring the safety of British Columbians.
